In other news, the Apocalypse.

01. Where are the Winchesters when you need them?
So, there's this little vulcanic ashcloud thing raging in Europe, you may have heard of it in the last, oh, week or so. Anyway, it's paralyzed our airspace, tourists are stranded wherever([livejournal.com profile] ibroketuesday I hope your family is ok!) who unlike John Cleese, probably can't afford to take a £3,300 taxi, here's the good part, not: ash particles are falling from the sky!
My grandpa came home and said it was all over our allotment garden, it's not something that's visible in the air tbh, the sun is shining, the weather is lovely - if it weren't for the particles being visible on shiny surfaces in some places, it would be a perfect day for a walk outside.

Picture from a news agency, ash on a car in Ringkøbing, Denmark - in Vest Jutland, far from where I live but still, case in point. Experts are apparently not agreeing about the health risks of the ash but I'd rather be safe than sorry and stay inside, the WHO agrees with me on this one.

The ash clouds include particles of rock, glass and sand that pose a serious threat to aircraft.

In addition to the travel problems, officials are urging people with breathing problems to stay indoors.

I made a little overview of the magnitude of this thing here or this graphic forecast, check it out if you're interested, it kinda puts things onto perspective. The vulcano Eyjafjallajökull (try saying that 3 times quick) is apparently still in eruption(webcam), and could continue to be so for weeks, Hell, years.

So, how are you today?

It really is the Apocalypse. Where I live we've been enduring a massive locust plague for the past week. Visual (http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b190/boneyards/locusts1.png). That was outside the front of my house. I feel like I'm on the episode "Bugs", minus the curse. Where are those damn Winchesters!

We have the same problem here, except for the ash being visible on our cars, which I haven't noticed so far. We have lovely weather too, but the airplanes are going nowhere and people are stuck at the airports over here. On our TV they said the sun is shining even prettier now due to the ash particles. Oh great, that's not making things better for the icelander.

The ash allegedly isn't a health risk, as it's of natural origin, or so they said.

I hope things calm down quickly and the vulcano is coming to a standstill.

Some airports are being reopened, I heard Germany opened some. The volcano however doesn't seem to be letting up if news rapports are anything to go by.

Seriously, the last year and a half has been nothing but ~warning signs~

Maybe the Mayans were right after all...

Hell, this makes me believe the apocalypse is really here :o

One of my friends was supposed to be in Germany for 2 days, and guess what, she's still there! She can't go home until they say so, and she's running out of money. (We are not all celebs here, u know). So in a that-sucks scale of 1 to 10, I will rate it 10 for sure.

Luckily the airports are starting to be reopened here, some in Germany as well but as far as I know the international airports will remain closed until tonight at least.
I'm sorry about your friend, I know it must be difficult when funds are low, especially when you're in a foreign country D:

I'm sorry for her too. We students are not rich. But hey, that's life I guess.(If it was me I would be phoning my mum every 10 mins moaning about it).
It would have been better for her if she had been in Majorca or somewhere like that. I saw people on the tv crying and stuff because they couldn't come back from there. I thought 'f***** hell, have they realized where they are?'. Yeah, some of us just like to moan... :)
