He can't seem to decide whether he wants to interfere or not. Unless making Dean do everything himself is part of some grand plan that will actually stop the Apocalypse. (Not that I really expected a literal deus ex machina by having God step in and sort things out for the boys.)

It would be lazy writing to have him sort it out, at least this early - he must have some grand scheme for the boys otherwise why bother saving them but.. idk it's confusing :/ and then again if he does have a master plan for it all the whole free will vs. destiny issue rears it's ugly head.
